Situated between Tampa and Orlando Lakeland Florida is well worth a visit for those who are traveling on the I-4, if only to take a peak at some of the most impressive Frank Lloyd Wright architecture in the United States. These magnificent buildings can be found on the grounds of the Florida Southern College.
But of course there is plenty more to see and be in this fascinating corner of America.
For instance those in search of nostalgia and maybe a keepsake or two should make an effort not to miss the Lakeland downtown Historic and Antiques district. Here the visitor can really make up their own itinerary. Whether it be kicking back at one of the marvelous pubs in the area or looking for antique books or merely browsing art galleries or museums this is the place to be in Lakeland. And of course there are some fantastic restaurants which serve spectacular cuisine.
Of course the wonderful restaurants to be found in Lakeland are not limited to that district alone.
Take for instance Harry’s Seafood Bar & Grille. This restaurant, styled after the best that New Orleans has to offer is perfect for a fun filled night and offers some delicious and value for money cuisine. Come for the Crab Cakes and stay for the Crab Crusted Red Fish Royale – you won’t be disappointed.
Another great dining experience is Bubbaques where the diner looking for pure Texas inspired food can enjoy Brisket or pulled pork – but don’t forget the hot wings – they’re a blast. And for a special treat ask for an ice cold bottle of Cheerwine – a regional favorite.
For a slightly more upmarket experience hit the Red door Wine market where European specialties such as Coq Au Vin share pride of place with dishes such as Poutine and a fantastic lamb burger. A dining experience that should not be missed.
But it’s not all dining out. there are plenty of other things to do in Lakeland – and plenty for families to enjoy together such as the Father Daughter bass fishing or the ‘Boots and Buckles’ country dancing experience.
For those who want to enjoy a unique shopping experience then a visit to the International Market World is highly recommended. With over 1200 vendors under one roof there is something here for everyone. From food and drink to unique clothing items – it’s all here.
Visit Lakeland – you’ll be glad you did.
