Description - The image is from the famous and now rare series, Birds of Australia. 1840-48 The original image was drawn and finished by John Gould and others. It was published for inclusion in this most sort after work. This image is in good condition, no tears. and unfortunately, the scan does not show the complet bird due to ist size. It also comes with the text page, which has some fxing marks on it. You would not be unhappy with this piece. What else can one say about this famous ornithologist, affectionately called the Bird Man, John Gould spent a life time publishing his works, Gould was not only a brilliant ornithologist, but also an artist and a very successful businessman. Whilst most people remember John Gould quite a few would not know of his wife Elizabeth who in the early years did all of her husbands drawing. Bringing to life birds and animals that could hardly be imagined.
