AV1961   Size: 4" x 5"

Description - An original wood block engraving from Picturesque Atlas of Australasia published between 1886 and 1889 for Andrew Garran. (It was reissued in a slightly smaller format in 1892.)
There were over 800 topographical views and a few maps of each state. Starting with the Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, and Captain Cooks discoveries, the engravings show the development of Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea and the South Pacific Islands up to the late 1880s.
Whilst most engravings are of major cities and surrounding areas, there are many country towns, pastoral scenes, industry, portraits, aborigines, flora and fauna.
Each view is mounted in acid free antique white archival board and ready for framing. It has also been hand coloured at some stage. If you have a particular interest please email us as we have all the engravings from this publication.
The size indicated is engraved image area only. Mount is 3-3 1/2 in. (70-75 mm).
